Tampa Bay Aquarium

Tampa Bay Aquarium is an educational institution in Tampa, Florida devoted to the study of marine animals and ecosystems. The aquarium was founded in 1995 by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners. It opened on January 15, 2013 at its present location on the southern end of downtown Tampa, near the Channelside District. The aquarium houses many different species from around the world including butterflies, arachnids, fish and mammals such as otters and manatees. It also features a jellyfish exhibit where visitors are able to touch moon jellies and sea nettles under supervision of staff members. In addition to being an aquarium with exhibits on local marine life in Florida, it is also home to many exotic animals including lemurs from Madagascar!
