Temporary Lane Closure on S Howard Avenue to begin November 4, 2019 for Utility Construction

A portion of S Howard Avenue between W Morrison Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard will close daily beginning on Monday, November 4, 2019 for the installation of street lights as part of the Mayor’s Initiative/Bright Lights, Safe Nights program. A utility contractor will be installing a pole and new street lights on both sides of S Howard Avenue between W Southview Avenue and W Hills Avenue.

There will be alternate daily southbound and northbound lane closures on S Howard Avenue between W Southview Avenue and W Stroud Avenue beginning at 9 am on November 4, 2019.

Southbound and northbound traffic will be intermittently maintained on S Howard Avenue at all times during construction, with delays.

The sidewalk within the construction area will be closed.  Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other available sidewalks in the area.

All lanes on S Howard Avenue between W Southview Avenue and W Stroud Avenue will reopen by 4 pm on Friday, November 15, 2019, weather permitting.

The City recommends using alternate routes to avoid construction.  Southbound and northbound motorists can use S Rome Avenue between W Morrison Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard in lieu of S Howard Avenue.
