Temporary Lane Closures on Channelside Drive to begin July 15, 2019 for Road Construction
A portion of Channelside Drive between E Cumberland Avenue and S Meridian Avenue/S Beneficial Drive will close beginning on Monday, July 15, 2019 for road construction. A private contractor will be modifying utility manholes and valves, installing pedestrian crossing warning signage and modifying the center median for the installation of a pedestrian crosswalk at the Aquarium on Channelside Drive between E Cumberland Avenue and S Meridian Avenue/S Beneficial Drive. This construction work will be completed in two (2) phases.
During Phase 1, the westbound lane on Channelside Drive between E Cumberland Avenue and S 12th Street will close at 9 am on Monday, July 15, 2019. One eastbound lane will be maintained during this portion of work. Phase 1 work is anticipated to be completed by 5 am on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, weather permitting.
The second phase of work will begin immediately upon the completion of Phase 1. On Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at approximately 5 am, the eastbound lane on Channelside Drive between S Meridian Avenue/S Beneficial Drive and E Cumberland Avenue will close and the westbound lane on Channelside Drive between E Cumberland Avenue and S 12th Street will reopen to traffic.
All lanes on Channelside Drive between S Meridian Avenue/S Beneficial Drive and E Cumberland Avenue will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, July 19, 2019, weather permitting.
The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
