REMINDER: Boom by the Bay additional information for media

 Update on Boom by the Bay – Media Parking will be available in the North lot of Julian B. Lane Park – please RSVP with vehicle and head count by tomorrow at noon.  

The City of Tampa has partnered with HART to provide FREE HART rides all day on the 4th of July. All HART services in Hillsborough County will be free, with additional shuttles operating in Tampa’s downtown. 

“Huge thanks to HART CEO Ben Limmer and staff who immediately jumped at the opportunity to make Boom by the Bay accessible to everyone,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “We’re excited to see all of the smiling faces enjoying our nation’s independence.”

“HART is excited to partner with the City of Tampa to provide free rides throughout our system on July Fourth, so that event-goers can enjoy a stress-free trip to downtown, take in the festivities and get home safely,” said Benjamin Limmer, HART CEO. “Thanks to Mayor Castor for thinking big with this new and exciting Independence Day tradition.”

Full Event Info

Boom by the Bay is expected to be Florida’s LARGEST 4th of July firework display, with around 33,000 firework shells launching along Tampa’s waterfront.

 This exciting new tradition will feature 2.5 miles of 4th of July activities centered in four locations: 

  • Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park
  • Armature Works/Water Works Park
  • The Tampa Convention Center
  • Sparkman Wharf

Each location will feature a 20-minute firework show scheduled for 9pm, weather permitting. Free family fun activities, food and beverages, and live entertainment will also be spread between the four sites. 

Transportation/Parking

All City of Tampa garages and lots will be open for Boom by the Bay. Attendees are encouraged to pre-pay for parking through ParkMobile

Accessible parking is available at all public parking facilities and on the south side of Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park. An interactive map of the City of Tampa parking garages and lots can be found here.

A free bike valet will also be available in Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park.

Boating Restriction

Boat traffic will be prohibited between the North Boulevard Bridge and the Cass Street Bridge from 8pm to approximately 9:30pm. 

We recommend that boaters that wish to view the fireworks find a location by either of the two firework displays in the waterways and channels near the Tampa Convention Center or Ybor Turning Basin.
