Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn to Tour Brightline in Miami and Fort Lauderdale

 WHAT:  City of Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Tampa-based officials will tour Brightline in Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Brightline is the only privately-funded, express, inter-city passenger rail service in the United States. Mayor Buckhorn will meet with Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, along with Brightline executives.

As one of the nation’s fastest growing regions, Tampa is a natural extension for Brightline. Brightline is currently engaged in the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) RFP process to allow for private investment in a high-speed rail connection from Orlando to Tampa.

WHEN: Thursday, August 23, 2018

8:37 a.m. –   Mayor Buckhorn and Tampa delegation depart Tampa for Miami on AA flight #1118

10:15 a.m. – Delegation arrives at MiamiCentral via shuttle bus (provided by Brightline)

10:30 a.m. – Delegation tours MiamiCentral and adjacent transit oriented development

11:30 a.m. – Lunch and presentation at Brightline office by President and COO Patrick Goddard

1:13 p.m.  –  Delegation takes Brightline to Fort Lauderdale station and tours station

2:39 p.m. –   Delegation takes Brightline to MiamiCentral

3:45 p.m. –   Group departs MiamiCentral for airport on Metrorail Orange Line

5:34 p.m. –   Mayor Buckhorn and members of depart Miami on AA flight #2624
