Temporary Lane Closures E Whiting Street and S Florida Avenue June 12, 2018 for Emergency Utility Repair to be Extended

(This is a revision to Traffic Advisories issued on May 23, May 25 and May 29, 2018)

A portion of E Whiting Street between N Morgan Street and N Florida Avenue and S Florida Avenue between E Brorein Street and E Whiting Street that closed on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 for emergency utility repair will be extended.  A utility contractor will complete the repair work on the utility lines in manholes on S Florida Avenue between E Cumberland Avenue and E Washington Street on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.  One (1) westbound lane on E Whiting Street between N Morgan Street and N Florida Avenue and one (1) northbound lane on S Florida Avenue between E Brorein Street and E Whiting Street will close at 9 am on June 12, 2018. 

One (1) westbound on E Whiting Street between N Morgan Street and N Florida Avenue and two (2) northbound lanes on S Florida Avenue between E Brorein Street and E Whiting Street will remain open at all times during the construction, with delays.

It is anticipated that all lanes on E Whiting Street between N Morgan Street and N Florida Avenue and on S Florida Avenue between E Brorein Street and E Whiting Street will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, weather permitting.

The crosswalk on E Whiting Street on the east side of N Florida Avenue will be closed during construction.  Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area at all times.

The City recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion. Westbound motorists can use E Brorein Street between N Morgan Street and N Florida Avenue in lieu of E Whiting Street. Northbound motorists can use S Morgan Street between Channelside Drive and E Washington Street in lieu of S Florida Avenue.
