City of Tampa Lights Up Orange for Gun Violence Prevention Day and Rainbow for the Remainder of June for Pride Month
Today, Old City Hall and the fountains and palm trees in Curtis Hixon Park, will light up orange in honor of National Gun Violence Awareness Day and the remainder of the month will be lit rainbow for Pride Month.
“Here in Tampa we stand with our young people and all of those affected by gun violence,” said Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “The Florida Legislature may have prevented cities from passing common sense gun legislation but they can’t stop us from shining the light on this issue and their hypocrisy.”
“Tampa proudly embraces and supports our LGBTQ community,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “Whether we’re marching hand in hand through Ybor during the Pride Parade or mourning after the Pulse tragedy with our brothers and sisters in Orlando, we are truly a more inclusive and empowered city when we all stand together and stand up for each other. We’re happy to stand unified not only in the month of June but each and every day.”
