Temporary Road Closure on W Swann Avenue to continue May 9, 2018 for Roadway Improvements
A portion of W Swann Avenue between S Armenia Avenue and S MacDill Avenue closed on Monday, April 9, 2018 for a Capital Improvement project. The City contractor is installing drainage, curbing, and sidewalks on W Swann Avenue between S Armenia Avenue and S Gomez Avenue as part of a stormwater improvement project. This construction work on W Swann Avenue will be completed in 4 phases over a 4 month period.
Phase 1 work will be completed on May 8, 2018, weather permitting.
In order to facilitate the construction time, Phases 2 and 3 will be combined. W Swann Avenue between S Tampania Avenue and S Habana Avenue will be closed beginning at 9 am on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. S Audubon Avenue between W De Leon Street and W Fountain Boulevard will also be closed at the intersection at W Swann Avenue. It is anticipated that the Phase 2/Phase 3 work will be completed by 4 pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, weather permitting.
In Phase 4, W Swann Avenue between S Audubon Avenue and S Gomez Avenue will be closed. S Habana Avenue between the emergency entrance to Memorial Hospital of Tampa and W Swann Avenue will also be closed during this phase.
Sidewalks on W Swann Avenue will be closed during the construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.
It is anticipated that the Phase 2 and 3 work will be completed by 4 pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, weather permitting.
The entire Capital Improvement project on W Swann Avenue between S Armenia Avenue and S Gomez Avenue is expected to be completed by August 15, 2018.
The City recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
