Sebring residents warned of scammers posing as utility workers
SEBRING, Fla. – The Highlands County Sheriff’s Office is warning Sebring residents of scammers going door-to-door claiming to work for Sebring Utilities.
The scammers offer to test residents’ water and claim to find contaminants, the sheriff’s office said. The group then offers a water purification system for sale.
“This is 100 percent a scam. If they come calling at your home, send them packing and call the Sebring Police Department,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post.
Anyone who has legitimate questions can call Sebring Utilities at (863)471-5112.
