Bucs Add Former Colts RB Dalton Crossan

The pre-free agency tweaking of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2018 roster continued on Thursday afternoon, this time with an addition instead of a cut.

The Buccaneers have signed first-year running back Dalton Crossan, who was most recently with the Indianapolis Colts in training camp last year. Crossan played his college ball at New Hampshire and signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent last May.

At New Hampshire, Crossan played in 44 games and rushed 449 times for 2,617 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also caught 105 passes for 775 yards and eight touchdowns and added 1,793 yards and one touchdown as a kickoff returner. Crossan was also a lacrosse star in high school, earning an offer a full scholarship to play at Michigan.

Crossan played in the Colts’ preseason opener last August, rushing three times for three yards, catching two passes for 11 yards and adding one 23-yard kickoff return. However, he was inactive for the next game and was waived with an injury designation on August 22.

Crossan becomes the third tailback under contract with the Buccaneers for 2018, joining Peyton Barber and Jacquizz Rodgers. Doug Martin was waived on Tuesday and Charles Sims is a pending unrestricted free agent.
