Alexander, Evans Among Team Captains

As determined by player votes, the Buccaneers’ offensive team captains will be quarterback Jameis Winston and wide receiver Mike Evans, while the captains on defense will be Gerald McCoy, Lavonte David and Kwon Alexander. Josh Robinson was selected as the special teams captain.
The Bucs’ longest-running captaincy belongs to McCoy, who was selected for the sixth straight year. Each of his first five seasons in that role ended in his own selection to the Pro Bowl, so that’s a trend both player and team would like to see extended. David is a captain for the fourth season in a row; he first earned that honor in his third NFL season.
Winston is still only 23 years old but his leadership qualities are undeniable and he’s got the “C” on his chest for the second time in three NFL seasons.
Head Coach Dirk Koetter revealed the team’s choices for captains on Monday morning, after the first practice of the regular season. The Buccaneers also took their annual team picture in the morning prior to their workout.
