Guy, creators of the New Jack Swing style, will be headlining this year’s Tampa Spring Jam. Founded by super-producer Teddy Riley, Guy’s 1988 self-titled debut album became an instant smash with R&B hits such as “I Like,” “Groove Me,” and “Teddy’s Jam.” Guy also contributed songs to the soundtracks of “Do the Right Thing” and “New Jack City.” During this time, Teddy Riley became an in-demand songwriter and producer working with artists like Bobby Brown, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Keith Sweat, amongst others. The group released a second album, “The Future,” with singles “Let’s Chill” and “Do Me Right” in 1990. In 1994, Riley moved on to form the band Blackstreet while other members released solo projects.

Joining Guy and Teddy Riley at this year’s Tampa Spring Jam is urban R&B quartet Dru Hill. Dru Hill released their self-titled debut album in 1996 with the stand out single “Tell Me” that became a top five R&B hit. “Enter the Dru,” their second album, was released in 1998 and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart. Member Sisqo had solo success in 1999 with “Thong Song,” but the group stayed intact releasing “Dru World Order” in 2002, followed by “Hits” in 2005 and “Indrupendence Day” in 2010.

R&B vocal group 112 were the first and most successful urban vocal group to emerge from Sean “Puffy” Comb’s Bad Boy Records. The group’s debut single “Only You” was released in the summer of 1998 and climbed to No. 3 on the R&B charts and peaked at No. 13 on the pop charts, with their debut album “112” eventually going double platinum. In 2001, “Part III” was released which included the hit “Peaches and Cream,” and earned the group their first and only Grammy nomination in the Best R&B Group or Duo category.

Swing beat trio Tony! Toni! Toné!, best known for their hit singles “Feels Good” and “Anniversary,” also will be performing as well as R&B bad boy group Silk, and the original human beatbox Doug E. Fresh.
