The City of Tampa Department of Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management Needs your Help in Selecting the 2016 Recycling Truck Art Design

Over 100 students at every grade level from 5 local schools and 8 after school programs have participated in the contest. Students learn from Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management Recycling Staff the benefits of recycling, and recycling trends, such as recycling contamination and what can and cannot be recycled. The contest is another outreach effort of the Department to engage and educate Tampa’s residents on the importance of recycling. Following the recycling education program, students create art with a goal of conveying a message about recycling right!
Voting for the submitted art entries is open to the public, free of charge and will take place on December 7, 2016 between 11:00am-2:00pm at Lykes Park, in combination with the Mayor’s Food Truck Fiesta. The winning artwork and the artist’s first name and school name will be displayed for each grade level – elementary, middle and high, on a City of Tampa recycling truck for one year.
