Manatee rescued from Jacksonville…

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —  The manatee that was rescued from a Jacksonville storm drain nearly two weeks ago is still recovering at Seaworld in Orlando.

The veterinarian on her case,  Dr. Stacy DiRocco, says the manatee is “still doing well, but has some mild abnormalities in her blood results and is not yet eating on her own.”

Officials at Seaworld are providing hydration and nutritional support by giving her some manatee gruel daily, and a course of antibiotics was started to address some of the inflammatory changes in her blood parameters.

Officials tell us she’s “active, swimming normally and remains critical care pool with two other rescued manatees, Una and her calf.”
