Man wanted in Tampa murder caught

TAMPA — The man wanted in the slaying of a Tampa nurse has been arrested in Louisiana, the Tampa Police Department.

Police say Keith Early Davis, 43, killed William Leslie McGoff at his home on Sunday.

Davis was arrested in Sulphur, Louisiana, a small town near the Texas border.

Davis, who fled from Tampa in the victim’s car after the slaying, was arrested without incident.

Tampa detectives are headed to Louisiana to bring Davis back to Tampa to face charges of first-degree murder, robbery and grand theft.

In a recent press release, detectives say Davis killed McGoff, ransacked his house and then took his car. Police found Davis after  his work called for a welfare check because he didn’t show up the next day.

Davis was released from prison in 2015 and has an arrest record including grand theft, robbery, and aggravated battery with great bodily harm.

Our news partners at The Tampa Bay Times reported McGoff was a nurse with LifePath Hospice and was also active in anti-drug and alcohol addiction efforts.
