Safety J.J. Wilcox Traded to Steelers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded veteran safety J.J. Wilcox to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wilcox joined the Buccaneers as an unrestricted free agent in March after spending four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.

In the trade, the Buccaneers receive a sixth-round pick in next year’s draft in exchange for Wilcox and a seventh-round pick in the 2019 draft.

The swap opens up a spot on the Buccaneers’ 53-man roster, which was formed a day ago during the league-wide cut-down for the regular season. The complementary move has not yet been announced but the Bucs still feature plenty of safety depth with Chris Conte, Keith Tandy and second-round draft pick Justin Evans.
