Temporary Lane Closure of Jackson Street and Pierce Street to begin August 28, 2017 for Utility Construction

Phase 3 of the TECO Washington Street Substation Upgrade Project will begin Monday, August 28, 2017.  A portion of Jackson Street between Morgan Street and Jefferson Street and a portion of Pierce Street between Madison Street and Jackson Street will close at 7 pm on August 28, 2017, as part of the Phase 3 work. 

One (1) lane of Jackson Street between Morgan Street and Jefferson Street and two (2) southbound lanes on Pierce Street between Kennedy Boulevard and Jackson Street will close nightly, Monday through Friday, from 7 pm to 5 am beginning on August 28, 2017 and will reopen to traffic by 5 am on Saturday, September 9, 2017, weather permitting.

No work will take place on the following nights:

  • Tuesday, August 29, 2017 (Ed Sheeran- Amalie Arena)
  • Friday, September 1, 2017 (Kendrick Lamar- Amalie Arena)
  • Monday, September 4, 2017 (Labor Day)

The City recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
